Peace and Planet: rally and march for nuclear-free, peaceful, just and sustainable world
Sunday, April 26 – New York City
More information coming soon!
On the eve of the NPT Review Conference, we will be gathering in mid-town Manhattan for an international rally and march to the United Nations. On the streets and in front of the U.N., activists from around the world – with 2,000 from Japan, including Hibakusha (survivors of the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki) – will make our demands for a nuclear-free world, for economic, social, and environmental justice, and an end to military crises and wars.
With our numbers, speeches, signs, costumes, chants, songs, hope, anger, creativity, and humor we’ll impact the diplomats and political leaders in New York for the NPT Review Conference and build and reinforce our movements. And through mainstream, alternative, and social media, we’ll send the messages that it’s past time for the NPT’s promised “good faith” negotiations for nuclear weapons abolition to begin, that it’s past time to cut military spending to prevent wars and to address urgent human needs, reverse climate change, and stop the devastating wars and preparations for war.
The march will end with the presentation of millions of nuclear weapons abolition petition signatures to U.N. and NPT Review officials and with a popular festival. Watch this page for details as they are developed.
